I upgraded to the latest update via the AppStore. After this, the app does not start.
It is blocked at trying to open the last opened file. How can I fix this?

Ok, I finally fixed this. I moved the pixelmator plist file out of ~/Library/Preferences. And then restarted the machine. I also did a Shift+double click on the app. I don't know if that helped, but might be useful for the next person.
