Hello,

I think at some point I chose to hide the welcome screen that is shown on startup. When I open the application I get an open file dialog instead. How can I enable default welcome screen on startup? I did not find any option for it in the settings or anywhere else.

Thanks for your help,
Chris

I found it under Window/Welcome to Pixelmator Pro.

That's odd, I do not have that option. I am using version 1.7.

That's the version I'm using too. The top tool bar (File/Edit/Insert, etc. etc, and then View, Window). The drop down list should show Welcome to Pixelmator Pro. Or try shift, command, 1 on your keyboard.

It is really weird that I do not have that option. See the screen shot attached.

When I am searching for it under help there is no menu item found either (the only result takes you to the pixelmator help online).

So strange. Did you try the shortcut: shift, command, 1?

Yes I did. I just heard that sound you are getting when you press a key combination that is not recognised. Perhaps it is somehow a bug. The first thing I looked was under Pixelmator Options/General. I think it would be intuitive to include a checkbox there to select whether to show the Welcome Screen or not on startup.

@fruitsalad The new Welcome screen is available on macOS Mojave and later. In your screenshots, I can see that you seem to be running macOS Mojave's dark mode but is there any chance you're using mods of some sort?

No I am actually still using MacOS High Sierra (10.13) and just have a dark menu bar. So I can't see that screen with the OS version I am using?

Understood. I had that suspicion. Yeah, the Welcome screen only comes with macOS 10.14.

Okay no big deal. The different options the welcome screen is giving access to are easily accessible through shortcuts anyway. But it seems strange that the application works with 10.13, but just not a specific feature. Are there other features that do not work for MacOS High Sierra too?

That's mainly because some of the Pixelmator Pro tools rely on features only available in the more recent macOS versions. A few more features available starting with macOS 10.14 are the canvas rotation, ML Super Resolution, ML Denoise, soft proofing, and light UI.
