Other than repairing every individual speck of dust on old photos, has anyone found a better/faster way to clean up dust?

For example, I discovered that for dust in the sky, it's much faster just to quick-select the sky and paint in a new blue color, than fix every speck. But this doesn't work on other, more complex backgrounds.

There's probably no single technique that would work universally with all photos but I sometimes use blend modes (Lighter Color and Darker Color) paired with the Clone tool for similar fixes. This essentially limits the Clone tool to affect only in areas that are lighter or darker than the source you're cloning from. This way, you can rather quickly cover large areas of dust and scratches.

You can see how this works in the video below. Here, I used the Darker Color blend mode to remove the scratches that are lighter than the clone source: http://upload-cdn.pixelmator.com/darker ... d-mode.mov

Luminar Neo has AI automated dust removal. I use PP and Neo.

Pixelmator Team needs to add this to their ML suite:

I hope PP adds this to their feature requests.
