Let's say I have two pictures. Picture A is the main picture and picture B I will use to clone from. If I add picture B to picture A as a layer, then clone what I want from B, then delete the layer that contains picture B, the cloned image is also deleted. Likewise, if I hide picture B layer, the cloned image also hides. What is the proper way to accomplish what I'm trying to do? Thank you.

Hi MDJ_LC. Good question! In this case, placing the layers side-by-side on the canvas rather than on top of each other should work. You can use the Crop tool to expand the canvas to fit both images. Also, when copying areas from one image to another, you'd also want the "Sample all layers" option turned on in the Clone tool options. Once you're done with the cloning, you can delete Layer B and crop the canvas again, back to the size you want. Hope that helps!
