What is the best way to change color?

I want to change the blue colors in the quicktime logo to red (for a stop recording button, irrelevant) what is the best way to change these values to red values but not have it be one solid color?

Thanks!

Okay I found this by accident - I don't think it's enabled by default, on mine it wasn't. Color monochrome lets you change the color monochrome of a selected part of an image or layer. This is most likely the best way.

Color Monochrome appears to be the best choice here, indeed. Or, there's also the False Color effect you can try if you need a bit more flexibility when adjusting the tint of the highlight and shadow areas of your selection.

I find "Replace Color" works most of the time - but here color range seems too broad.

Replace Color can work here, too, but you've got to be very particular about where you're sampling the color to replace from. It has to be somewhere in the middle of the color range — it can't be the highlights and it can't be shadows.

The beauty of "Replace color" I find is you don´t need a selection - so you´re "cheating" in this case otherwise at 100% Range you´ll find some red in the surrounding areas.

Yep, I did see the bleed, that's why I used the selection here.

Thanks guys!

The "False Color Effect" is located in the effects section? You were saying that is also another alternative?

No problem. Yes, False Color is one of the Color Adjustments effects. It may not be ideal for this particular situation but should work great in most cases where you need to use different colors for shadows and highlights of your selected area:

Or, you could also use any fill effect (Gradient Fill, Color Fill) with the blend mode set to Color.

Oh okay! Thanks.

I assume the blend mode won't make it a solid color, but change the color values to that color?

Exactly that!
