What features would you like to see in Pixelmator Pro?

Cannot believe this feature isn't present in the Pro version. Please add it as fast as possible!

When using the various selection tools, I see a "Refine..." button at the bottom of the tool options panel — next to the "Invert" and "Reselect" buttons. Does that do what you had in mind?

Bump this UP!
I've been frustrated not having this feature as well, it's a staple to any smart selection tool. AP & PS both support this, I'd rather not be expected to swap between apps to redo selections because I can't refine hair.

That's fair — a hair selection mode/feature is definitely in our plans!

Hey there guys, looking at the new roll-outs. Making some impressive changes and really liking the overall direction.

I am still struggling with using Pixelmator Pro for everyday work projects though because a lot of my work requires some advanced masking tools - so I can't yet commit to using PP full time.

Is there an expected roll-out date for this feature?

Hey Israel, it's great to hear you're enjoying the direction we're moving in! We think it's not too bad as well... Just need to keep making the app better and better! But, I do have to disappoint you slightly and say hair selections tools aren't currently being worked on. We would absolutely love to add this and do think it's important but we just have a few other things that we think are a little more important in terms of the big picture. Having said that, we do have some ideas for how we could do this in Pixelmator Pro from a technical perspective, so we have definitely been considering it. It'll just take a little more time.

Hello Andrius,

Please make this a priority. I just bought the app and I can't believe it doesn't have this feature. Common guys. Do we have to jump back to PS or AP every time I need to do this ? which is 85% of the time. Seriously, that's embarrassing. It's like buying a house but still living in your parent's home. 😓

I know you will find a way to make it easier for the user and implement ML on it. But those things take time. Just think ahead, Hair Selection Refining is a very "basic", popular and important feature that every image processor program should have.

they have an api so It wouldn't be to hard to implement?

Also, I'd like to rewrite one of Reinold's sentences because it's bugging me:
Hair Selection Refining is a very complex feature that is extraordinarily difficult to implement. Nevertheless, it is a popular and important feature that image processing programs should aspire to have.

hit them up and do some dealing, I think they would love to be in such a great and sleek app such as Pixelmator pro!

Just out of interest, are you guys getting good results with remove.bg? I just tried a couple of photos and it's a little hit and miss. Selection refining/hair selection is definitely not a simple task and would require pretty extensive development.

As for collaboration — among other things, they're an online service, so images would have to be sent to their servers, downloaded back, etc. We could code this ourselves, it would just require quite a lot of time. I do feel that we'll get to this feature at some point, though.

Count me in for Hair Refinement or ML hair selection masking. This is something I have to deal with all the time and it is what keeps me from using PP for most of my tasks. Thanks!

Any news on this? Would be the most important feature I am currently missing in Pix Pro.

We're in the research stage for this feature at the moment, but that means we're actively working on it, which is good news. :raised_hands:

I just purchased pixelmator, and I have to say its freakin awesome. I would love to find a photoshop replacement and this is on the edge of being that for me at least. I do plenty of photo editing where I could definitely use the hair refine feature, so this is just another little nudge. All in all I am very pleased and impressed by this product. Hope development is going well..looking forward to the update!

There isn't that much to update you guys on at the moment but I can say for sure that it's an active project and the developments are going well so far. :ok_hand: It's a bit of a longer wait, but I'm sure that if everything goes through, it'll be worth it!

Just tried to remove a background from a portrait photo and the hair problem seems impossible for me to solve manually. Even after having been a casual, almost daily user of PS for over a decade and Pixelmator for almost 3 years I still can't do it... any news on the hair masking tool? Really looking forward to it! :haircut:
