After erasing background to make the remaining image transparent and saving it for use later as part of another project, when I try to retrieve the saved image it’s no longer transparent - it has a solid white background.

Same thing happens if I try to load it in another photo edit app: image on solid white background.

Is there a way to save and retrieve transparent images?

Hi Jay, make sure that when you export the image, you export to a format that supports transparency – PNG is generally the way to go. I have a feeling you may be exporting to JPEG. As for the Photos app – it’s generally not optimized for transparency, so you’d be better of simply exporting the images to a folder on your Mac.

Active this option because when you restore back the image from iCloud it loses the transparency

Thanks for the heads-up. I checked and my iPad is set that way.

Oh, I just realised this is about Pixelmator for iOS and I was commenting about Mac! Apologies, glad that didn't confuse you too much.

No confusion, same advice applies to IPad OS. 👍
