I have a folder of images that I would like to upscale. However, the Resize Image action in Automator doesn't seem to give an option to pick what scaling algorithm is used. Is there a way I can force it to use the ML one?

There isn't at the moment but we can certainly look into adding one!

I came to ask this exact same question. I could very much use this ASAP. What algorithm is the action using by default?

It's using Bilinear by default — we'll definitely look into adding ML Super Resolution too, though.

Is there any updates? I have 6,000 pictures that I want to upscale using ML Super Resolution. How can I do that?

For now, there's no automatic way to do this but we're looking into adding this to one of our Automator actions or creating a new one.

Friends, I have the same problem too. I'm really want to the new image size algorithm "ML super resolution" made to part of batch: I tried to batch it through Automator workflow but ended up using old version of the algorithm and there found none of options which allows me to change the algorithm. This pose seriously for me to bring this amazing ML SR to my work. I'm making tons of animations like 100 - 200 per a season. each animation contains 916 images on average. And I'm converting these images ( 916,000 images) into @2x or into @3x sizes. Without the batch feather this new algorithm is useless for my work.

I can now reveal that an "Increase Resolution of Images" action is currently in development so you'll be able to do this in the not too distant future.

Hi, any estimate on this? I also have a huge batch of images to upscale with with ML.

Automator actions for ml resolution was already added...

thanks! that is correct. They created a new action "Increase resolution of images"

Yep, it was added in the most recent update, Pixelmator Pro 1.5.5.

Great, but How can I do that? How can I add PM actions to Automator in the first place?
Thanks Ulli

All the available actions, including "Increase resolution of images", should be added to Automator automatically once you install Pixelmator Pro. You can easily find them by typing the name of the action into the search field at the top of the Actions list:

In case the Pixelmator Pro actions don't show up, check if third-party actions are enabled under Automator > Third-Party Automator Actions.

Thanks Aurelia, I've managed in the meantime! And realised which were the PM actions.

Again, another Automator beginner question: How can I save the workflow AND (this I don't) where do I find it in Automator?

The good old File > Save (as Workflow) should do the trick here. You can save and run workflows from the dedicated Automator folder in iCloud, desktop, or a custom folder on your Mac. If you'd like to incorporate some of your pre-made workflows into a new workflow, you can use the Run Workflow command in Automator.

Thanks Aurelija, I've done this and saved my first automation to the folder with my files. When I double clicked it, Automator wanted to install it. But I could open it the "open with". As I had saved it twice I deleted this, but I cannot find the name of the workflow file. And I do not dare to close the workflows, because I don't know where i would find them again. If I type the name it does not show up in the library. I can re-open them only with recent documents. So where are the workflows stored on a Mac?
Thank you in advance

I've found a solution creating a folder Automator Workflow. And I exported my workflows to this folder. That'll do for me. Thanks Ull

Cool! Glad to hear you worked it out. :)
