New layer is created when I attempt to continue drawing within a layer with Fill style enabled

Is something not working like it should? Let us know.

Demo:

I expected brush stroke of "3" to continue to be in the same layer as "1" and "2".
Instead, a new layer is automatically created.

Looks like a bug? If this is a feature, it is a very suspicios one :-)

(Note - I am using Pixelmator-Pro-2.4.4-20220620.2022)

My $0.02
I don't consider it a bug. If you had continued with 3 immediately after 1 and 2, THEN switched function to style all would have been well. It seems to me when I change functions I expect what I'm doing should end - normal. I understand what you mean but, of course, it is a simple enough to merge the two layers into one and the change the style for all of them. ( I did the same as you adding '3 4 5' and merging - easy. )

thanks! Yes, after writing this post I figured I'd turn off the Fill, continued drawing, then turn the Fill back on. This way, no new layer is created.
