by Jimbo724 2022-02-04 00:56:29 Tutorial request.

I want to create a "Pop Art" project a la Warhol and Lichtenstein. For some unexplained reason, you folks removed the Pop Art effect from Pixelmator. Boo, hiss, hiss.

This looks like a simple project: https://www.psdstack.com/photoshop-tuto ... s/pop-art/

Plz create an equivalent tutorial for Pixelmator Pro and then maybe you'll be forgiven for removing the Pop Art effect.
I've taken a look at that tutorial and it looks like it's possible to adapt those steps for Pixelmator Pro without too much trouble – we've got every tool and feature mentioned. We can try to create our own video tutorial but, in the meantime, I'd suggest trying to follow those steps in Pixelmator Pro and, if you get stuck on a particular step, leave a comment and we'll help out.

Hold down the Option key when drawing one shape on another, this will activate the subtract mode that will create cutouts like these. When you're done adding the cutouts, you can also merge the shape components to convert them into a single shape.

Hi Team,

I just purchased the app, liking it so far, Is there a resource where I can learn how to make a thumbnail for YouTube shorts, please.

Unlike youtube thumbnail, youtube shorts thumbnail requires a specific edit that should work on both desktop and mobile view.

Thanks,
Jagadeesh

We don't have one at the moment but I think it's a great idea. We'll keep it in mind as a potential inspiration for future tutorials.

by Tali Yeah, adobe got really lucky! lots of people love following tutorials and adobe's apps weren't that expensive (Back then, lol!) that's probably where they got most of their customers from!
anyway, I quite like writing out tutorials, so here's my take at a typewriter effect:

Making The Background

1. Go to your Preferred web browser and enter something like “rough paper texture 4k”, find one at good resolution, ⌃ (Control) click on it and download. Heres the one I used: <p><img src="//support-cdn.pixelmator.com/uploads-new/cuf_1626397281_paper.jpg" class="postimage is-shown is-visible" alt="Image" width="1440" height="900"></p>
2. You can also take a picture of a rough piece of paper and use that instead.
3. Create a new Project (the default 2880 x 1800 works fine, but you can use any resolution)
4. Import your photo into the Pixelmator Pro document

Text And Effects

1. Head to the text tool and Type out something
2. The font I used was American Typewriter, regular (a simple one installed on most Macs by default) at 76px and a colour of black (for now)
3. Go to the Effects tool for the text layer and add a Displacement map effect
4. First, Drag the paper Background into the image well of the Displacement map, and turn the ‘Amount’ slider down to 33px
5. Add a crystallise effect, and set the radius to 1.0px

Final Touches
<p><img src="//support-cdn.pixelmator.com/uploads-new/cuf_1626397307_Screen_Shot_2021_07_16_at_10.42.28_am.png" class="postimage is-shown is-visible" alt="Image" width="261" height="248"></p>

1. Get your text layer and set it blend mode to ‘Vivid Light’ and its Opacity to 80%
2. Head to the Type tool and make sure its hue is fully red, but the lightness and saturation to black, the hex code should be #000000
3. Now you can slide the colour diagonally(along the green arrow in my included image) from bottom left to top right and notice how parts of the text will slowly erode, choose a good point you like (for me it was #050505)
4. You can also add an empty layer and go to the paint tool, choose a distressed brush (like Square Pastel) at 20-30px and paint ink-marks in and around letters
5. When you’re happy, set the layer’s opacity to 50%

There you go! and if you don't do the paint blotches you could change the text and the displacement will update!
new skill got! cheers Image

Please make a tutorial for the following ASAP.
Your software has no resources for this, and its essential to complete with illustrator that does.

We need a multi logo design tutorial (5-20 logos) an entire package for branding (business cards, letterheads, etc).

Besides this, shapes and objects for logos, brands advertisements.

There is nothing for this software currently, even in the community when i searched for help.
Please make a guide for this asap.

Hi team,

I appreciate it if you release a tutorial video for these types of text effects too(https://resourceboy.com/text-effects/ab ... xt-effect/), and if your video suits beginners, it would be extremely helpful.

Hi,
Is it possible to create my own templates with replacement images, lightnings effects...
Thanks
User avatar

2022-09-22 14:56:58

Yes! You can customize the templates any way you want, and create entirely new ones from scratch with all the same functionality. We just released two new tutorial videos showing how you can customize templates and mockups - you can find them here and here.

As for creating new templates from scratch, the most important things to know are that by using the new Format > Advanced menu, you can now define layer groups as Alternative Elements which will let you single out a layer and cycle between whichever one is active (e.g. the lighting options in the Mockups) and, by the same token, you can now define layers as Placeholders, letting you replace them via on-canvas controls to any images from your storage, Photos library, or Clipboard, automatically removing their backgrounds and upscaling them. Not to mention that the new Document Colors feature will automatically detect the active colors nondestructively applied to your image, and you can set up custom palettes to alter all of them in an instant. You can find out more in our User Guide article on templates here.

Today I downloaded Pixelmator Pro 3.0 Muse, which has built-in mockups for books. But I can find no instructions on how to modify these mockups for books that are in other dimensions, such as 6"x9". I would very much appreciate a tutorial on adjusting the new mockups! Thank you.

Every tutorial or tips on how to plan in advance designs so to have a scalable output (I'm thinking to print it in different sizes on objects from mugs to tshirts) is for me very usefull

Thanks for giving us all these great tutorials! I would love to see a tutorial on how to use Pixelmator to extend the background of an image. I pasted a link to a video that shoes what I am looking for.

From what I know content aware scaling or content aware cropping is not available in Pixelmator pro yet but is there another way to achieve this?

May we please get a tutorial on how to use Pixelmator Pro to open a blinking subjects' closed eyes? All the tutorials I see on Google are for Photoshop, but I want to know which tools are best to use in Pixelmator Pro.

p.s. I'd still love a tutorial on creating a little planet effect.

Thank you!

I'd like to echo MITTENZ's post from July 10 above: pretty please do a tutorial on creating a logo in Pro. I just spent almost an hour combing your site and then the interwebz for one, and have come up empty. And creating a logo is the reason I signed up for the Trial. Pretty please. Thank you for considering.

Please make a tutorial on how to edit highlights/contrast/shadows etc. on a 360 photo without there being a visible seam from the edits when the image is converted into a photo sphere. Thank you!

Update: I've since noticed that Pixelmator Pro seems to handle this very well.

Generally I'd like more pro level tutorials to see if and how Pixelmator could be used in a professional setting.

Specifically more tutorials on serious compositing work. Also if and how Pixelmator could be used for precise logo design and branding work. At the moment it looks to me Pixelmator only has Pen and Shape tools, but no vector manipulation tools whatsoever to be able to Move, Scale, Rotate, Reflect, etc over specified points with specified amounts.

I just purchased Pixelmator Pro, and I'm really happy with it! I just wish there were long, detailed video tutorials for beginners on navigating the Pixelmator Pro interface, exploring layers, and using all the tools and how to utilize them.
