How do you keep natural shadows on a white background or add a shadow on the app?

I could really use some help figuring out how to keep
natural shadows or add them to a white background for
my product photos. It's been a bit of a challenge for
me, but my friend who also sells shoes seems to have
mastered it. Any advice or guidance would be greatly
appreciated!
