I cannot open (and edit) once edited RAW files in Photomator on iPad. When I choose the photograph I can see briefly a RAW file (paired with a JPG). Then Photomator opens a JPG instead. Opening non-edited RAW files is fine.

Interestingly the same occurs when I am trying to open a single RAW (without a JPG).
Photomator creates a new “image layer” instead of “RAW layer”.

Reinstalling the app does not help.

The only workaround is to “revert to original” and edit a RAW from a scratch.
Till the first saving…

Photomator 3.0.12, iPad mini 5th gen, iPad OS 16.6
The problem started with Photomator 3, AFAIR.

3.1 Update did not fix it.

It has been fixed in the recent 3.1.1 update.

Two days later. The problem starts all over again (I’ve applied the new system update (16.6.1) in the meanwhile).

I have exactly the same problem. A raw file once edited in photos app will be opened in Photomator as a jpg file (though the file size is identical to raw). Photomator creates a new “image layer” instead of “RAW layer”.
This should be fixed!

Yep. This is exactly what I observed. Except the fact Apple Photos was not involved in my case.
Anyway my problem has gone. That happened in beginning of December 2023. After i applied 3.2.5 and 3.2.6.
Which system and app version you have?

Support team claimed these files were in fact RAW files.

I'm confused. You are editing a raw file in Apple Photos, then opening that file in Photomator? What is your expectation, that the raw file will open in Photomator with the Apple Photos edits applied? The raw file will open in Photomator with no edits, just the raw image?

The solution is simple. The jpeg became the master after you did an edit in Photos. In the Photos app, do « revert to original » to get the jpeg+raw pair back to normal. Then you can open the raw in photomator. Strange maybe, but it kind of make sense that the app won’t discard your edited jpeg unless you force it to.

I had 3.2.3. But with the update now to 3.3.1 it is indeed fixed!
