Brush is only painting black

I'm new to Pixelmator Pro. When I select the brush tool, I have a problem. It only paints BLACK. I select the brush tool, and the brush I want. Then I select the color I want, and start painting. But the color never shows. It's only black.

What am I doing wrong?
