I wanted to edit a hidden photo from the Photos app in the Photomator iPad app. Photomator couldn't see the hidden photos folder. I could open the hidden photos in Photomator by using the share menu in Photos. I then edited the file and saved it to the Photos Library. Not unexpectedly, the file was not hidden so I hid it in Hidden folder in Photos.

I was then looking through the Files app and found a copy of the edited photo the iCloud Photomator Folder. I'drather not have multiple copies of this files around if I don't need to especially since the photo is not hidden in the iCloud folde . Is the hidden folder within Photos wholly self contained? Can I delete the photo in the Photomator iCloud Folder and still retain the photo in the Hidden folder in Photos?

Your best bet is to temporarily unhide the hidden photos, edit them, and then rehide them. You don't have to do this individually but at the folder level. You can see here, https://www.pixelmator.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=21725

The photos are hidden in the Photos sense, meaning in the hidden photos folder. None of the file are hidden at the file level.
