Adding Generative Fill AI to Pixelmator Pro
2024-02-09 21:22:20
Hey Pixelmator Pro team! How about we take things up a notch with a cool new feature called Generative Fill AI? Imagine being able to magically fill in gaps or replace parts of your images with content that looks just right, fitting in seamlessly with the rest. It's like giving your creativity a super boost while making editing a breeze. Plus, throwing in a few more AI tricks could really spice things up, making Pixelmator Pro the go-to app for all the creative minds out there using Mac. Let's lead the way in making photo editing more awesome and intuitive. What do you say?

That sounds kind of like the healing brush. But expanding it with a more powerful AI engine like Stable Diffusion would be really wonderful. I understand that this code is open source, and so could be integrated into Pixelmator easily.

If Pixelmator did a tie up with Unsplash, and trained their LLMs on the Unsplash stock image data, then they could potentially have a super competing generative fill feature relative to what photoshop offers currently, which is trained on Adobe Stock data.
+100 for this feature - hope the team can solve this

I'm a fairly new user to Pixelmator Pro, and rarely go out of my way to create an account on a forum such as this to comment, but I just had to come to support everyone asking for this Generative AI Fill feature.
Please, Pixelmator team, add this feature in an update!
Adobe's version of this feature is incredible but I'm loyal to Pixelmator so LFG!
+100 from me as well!

Yes! If Pixelmator wants to keep up with the other programs, this is a must have. It's the future of pixel editing.

The day generative AI trash is added to the program, I'm deleting it. All this Midjourney, stable diffusion, etc. stuff is for hacks and art thieves without any imagination or skill. Whatever ML features the team is doing now is fine. Prompt jockeys stay away.

Don't listen to the luddites. They said this about photography, sound recording, and just about every form of art done on computer. Anyone who could get replaced by AI was already replaced by Google Photos.
I find Pixelmator Pro to be an essential companion to the AI art I have made. Some of my works have over fifty layers of AI generated elements in one pic. Your background removal tool is a godsend to me. But the need to go back and forth from Pixelmator to DrawThings tends to fill my desktop with intermediate files that can get confused with the final output. Being able to render an image directly into a Pixelmator pro layer would be amazing, especially if it could intelligently respond to the existing layers. (Matching lighting, for example.)
