I know true HDR support is coming but we still need the ability to create faux/compressed HDR images stitched together from multiple captures that could be displayed on SDR panels.

Totally agree. Supporting HDR images is not enough. We need to be able to create some starting with regular still also, and bracketing/merging is how it is done. That is how the iPhone create HDR images in the background. For those getting images from cameras, we need the merge function. PLEASE ...

This is really needed as I recently purchased a Sony a6700 which does not have Auto HDR so I am left with the option to create HDR images on my own using my Mac. Unfortunately Pixelmator does not support merging bracketed photos.

I would have to be able to merge my bracketed pictures of the eclipse in Photomator instead of having to look for another app to do it...

If you have "Pixelmator Pro" I have written some applescript that can perform an HDR merge with it. See the following link. It uses the Pixelmator Pro Applescript actions support:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1673781560 ... cket-merge

Note this does NOT work with Photomator, so you are going to have to buy Pixelmator Pro if you want to try this out.

This solution lack image alignment which is an important part of HDR merge. Doing alignment by hand is a no-go for me.
