Hi. I'm wondering if it's possible to create a clipping mask from a vector shape and then feather the edges of the mask.
I created a new document, added a photo, then added a vector shape. I moved the shape's layer below the photo's. Then I right-clicked on the photo in Layers and choose Create Clipping Mask. That worked fine.
However, I'd like to feather the edges of the mask. Is there a way to do it? Or is it only possible to feather selections?
Thanks.
Can I create a clipping mask from a vector shape that has a feathered edge?

Okay, I figured out how to do it:
I selected the shape and chose Edit>Load Selection.
Then I deleted the shape.
Then I refined the selection to soften the edges.
Then I chose Format>Mask>Add Mask.

Hi Mirsky.
You have options. Sometimes masks are the way to go and the technique of Load selection and Add Mask are powerful tools that I use a lot.
But, if I understand the effect you are trying to get, you can still keep your vector object as a clipping mask if you want. Effects can be applied to vector objects so, if you select the shape in the layers panel, you can use a Gaussian Blur to soften its edges without losing the ability to later edit the shape.
Hope this helps.
