I thought I was purchasing this app for a one time purchase.. Now I am seeing a monthly charge on my credit care.. Was I doomed? I want to cancel this and have no idea how... help.

Hey Jena. I believe you wrote to us about this at support@pixelmator.com. Pixelmator Pro is not a subscription-based app, so I'm not sure what could have happened there. I have sent you the refund steps by email but it would also be a good idea to reach out to Apple Support just to make sure there are no unauthorized purchases being made from your account.
