Can't use effects in masks

With the update to 2.4, I seem to have lost the ability to use effects to edit masks. I relied on this pretty heavily, especially to add a gradient to a mask. Right now it seems like my only options for editing masks are by using selections or the paintbrush tool. Is there another way to get gradient masks? Ideally, I'd like to be able to add gradient masks to color adjustment layers. Thanks!

Yes, I noticed this too. The steps used in this video do not work in 2.4 https://youtu.be/uDyMC-kd7Fs

Just tested and worked regarding to this official Pixelmator Pro video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heFkzzHWoqY

The video does not address applying EFFECTS to masks. This functionality no longer works.
In the new interface, the EFFECT is applied to the image layer, not the mask.

OLD:

NEW: Gradient EFFECT is applied to IMAGE layer not the mask

Honestly I won´t call it a bug when implementation evolves. As per the other thread: use Gradient fill tool instead of Effects panel as shown in the official video (time stamp) https://youtu.be/heFkzzHWoqY?t=209

Well, it does remove functionality. Using the gradient EFFECT enabled a selector that you could use to adjust the gradient in real time.
Using the Gradient Fill tool does not have this control.

The gradient fill tool also doesn't allow you to put multiple gradients into a mask, which is a big drawback.

According to the Aurelija "Edit: After some discussion with the team, we've decided to bring back the effects on masks in the next update after all! So if your workflows relied heavily on this functionality, you'll be able to use it again."

Fixed in 2.4.2

But the Mask icon is not reflecting the Effect applied.|:

Gradient fill just does not work. I have been using it for years. Now it will not work with Camelot update. Come on Pixelmator.
